54 Landscape Architect and Specifier News Port Canaveral, Central Coastal Florida Above: Port Canaveral, a bustling port on the Florida central coast, is home to U.S. Army, Navy, and Air Force facilities and an export gateway for U.S. government cargo; however, 80% of the port's revenue is from cruise shipping. Solera WND-1 luminaires encircle the Exploration Tower, 7 floors of exhibits, play and observation decks. Cape Canaveral launches can be viewed from here. The Delta IV rocket launch is up next. Left: The WND-1 luminaires are lit by 36-watt RGB LEDs, color programed via a DMX controller. The columns stand 12 feet tall, but have only an 8-inch diameter. The top housing assemblies have a cast opal cylindrical lens. The inside of the top caps are painted white to optimize the illumination. The top assemblies connect to extruded aluminum shafts, and the base plates were waterjet cut.
