July 2017 53 Updating An Iconic University Landmark By Site Resources, Inc. The University of Maryland, Baltimore County's (UMBC) Library Pond was originally designed in the 1960s and has functioned as a fundamental node of the pedestrian oriented campus core for decades. The pond is set in soft contrast to the 1968 Brutalist architecture of the adjoining Albin O. Kuhn Library and Gallery, a dominant and historically central campus building.
