New York City is employing ShotSpotter audio sensors across 69-sq. miles of the city to detect gunfire and its location. "Nearly 8 out of 10 gun shots go unreported to 911," says ShotSpotter. Acoustic sensors (microphones) on rooftops and on street poles identify, time-stamp, classify and triangulate gunfire locations within 10 feet. Incident review experts in a control center can validate within 30-45 seconds if a gun was fired. I n f o r m a t i o n R e q u e s t # 6 4 5
