Right: The circular plaza at the entry to the park features handmade Belgium bricks, and 'Dakota Mahogany' granite blocks that depict the likeness of Captain Juan Seguin, and credit Harris County for its dedication to regional history. DG Studios created the graphics for the granite, and Cangelosi Marble and Granite applied the art to the stone. Steps and ramps with stainless steel railings lead up to the center of the park where main structures were raised to reduce the risk of flooding. Above: In the plaza, a six-foot weathered steel panel with a hand-drawn image of Juan Seguin by New York artist Gary Zaboly introduces visitors to the park's namesake. These large panels of Juan Seguin are placed throughout the park, accompanied by his many famous quotes. A more detailed story is told on the back of each panel.
