102 Landscape Architect and Specifier News 2018 North Carolina ASLA Student Awards This month, four student awards were presented at the North Carolina American Society of Landscape Architect's (NCASLA) Conference Awards Luncheon. This was the fifth consecutive year the honors were awarded to undergraduate and graduate students who contributed to the profession with their research, and attended an accredited landscape architecture college or university located in N.C. Receiving merit awards were "Uncovering Forgotten Landscapes," a case study by a North Carolina State University (NCSU) graduate team, and "The Gold Standard: Urban Renewal Through Intentional Infill + Design" by another NCSU graduate student team. "AGRITECH/TURE: Closing the Nutrient Cycle Loop of the Neuse River Basin + Sustainably Revitalizing a Rural City" won the student honor award. Lastly, receiving the award of excellence was "Brunswick Conservation & Land Planning Study," which focused on an 842-acre project site in New Bruinswick, N.C., and was submitted by the NCSU Coastal Dynamics Studio. Texas ASLA Calls for 2019 Speakers and Sessions The ASLA Texas Conference Speaker Committee is calling for session proposals for both speakers and sessions for the 2019 Texas ASLA Annual Conference. ASLA members and other professionals may submit written proposals for field sessions or oral presentations to be accompanied by graphics. The conference will be held April 24-26, 2019, in Irving, Texas. The goal of each session proposal should be to educate fellow professionals on topics that are pertinent to the landscape architectural profession, and each session or presentation should be estimated at 50 minutes in full. Written proposals must be submitted, along with the session application form, no later than October 5, 2018 to be considered for the conference. Chosen presenters will receive complimentary full registration to the conference as well as one ticket to the Annual Awards Recognition Session. In addition, speakers traveling from out of town (outside of a 90 mile radius) would be eligible for complimentary hotel accommodations. To view more details and to apply, visit .
