Hord Coplan Macht Baltimore, Maryland Loyola University Maryland: Campus Gateway Streetscape and Donnelly Hall Addition Baltimore, Md. The Donnelly Science Center provided an opportunity to re-envision the intersection by developing a setting for the building, enhancing the southern gateway to the campus, and improving the Cold Spring Lane streetscape. The new streescape creates a pedestrian experience and serves as a perimeter for the campus. With the introduction of a stonewall, a space is created for an additional campus paver walk and tree-planting zone. London Planetrees, planted along three consecutive blocks, frame the walk and provide shade. Sustainable design and an integrated storm water approach were central to the material selections. The majority of the sidewalks are constructed of permeable concrete pavers and the parking area was reconstructed with permeable concrete. The landscape architect led the site design by working with the architect and university and played a major role in obtaining community and city approvals. For forty years, Hord Coplan Macht has been creating distinct places to live, work, learn, and play. Their Landscape Architecture and Planning Studio serves a diverse clientele across a broad range of project types including urban and mixed-use developments, community and campus planning, historic and cultural landscapes, park and open space design and healing and educational environments. 76 Landscape Architect and Specifier News G o t o L a n d s c a p e O n l i n e . c o m a n d s e a r c h H o r d C o p l a n M a c h t t o v i e w m o r e f i r m p h o t o s
