Byer earned her bachelor's degree in landscape architecture from Cornell University. MSA Professional Services recently welcomed Bruce Woods, PLA, to its Madison, Wisc. office. Woods, with more than 20 years of experience, obtained master's degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and the University of Oklahoma and a bachelor's from University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. Woods served two terms as president of the Wisconsin Chapter ASLA. He helped organize La Fete de Marquette, one of the largest musical festivals in Madison that raised funds for the Wil-Mar Neighborhood Center. Hitchcock Design Group, a land planning and landscape architecture firm with offices in Chicago and Naperville, Illi., promoted Nick Arriaga to senior associate and then added Sarah McDonald to the firm. Arriaga joined the firm in 2005 and has been instrumental in a variety of projects for both the healthcare and senior living markets. He has a bachelor of landscape architecture degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and has received his certification in Healthcare Garden Design from the Chicago Botanic Garden's Therapeutic Garden Certification Program. McDonald holds a bachelor of science degree in landscape architecture and a master of science degree in urban and regional planning from the University of Wisconsin. She has worked on a variety of project types that include urban planning and design, recreation comprehensive plans, and healthcare medical office buildings. Thornton Landscape recently announced a new addition to the team of landscape professionals. Dan Lynch, a landscape designer with more than 26 years in the industry, joins the team as a landscape design sales manager. He will assist primarily residential customers as they plan and design their outdoor environments. Lynch's education includes design and horticulture at the University of Cincinnati as well as classes in computer-aided design and drafting at Southern Ohio College. He is a member of Association of Professional Landscape Designers and is a Certified Landscape Technician from the Ohio Nursery and Landscape Association. Dewberry, a privately held professional services firm, hired Meredith Byer, as the director of planning in the firm's Gaithersburg, Md., office. In her new role, Byer will be leading Dewberry's entitlement team, as well as expanding the landscape architecture presence in the D.C.-metro area.
