March 2015 133 All Aboard! The grand reopening of the renovated McClatchy Park was October 18, 2014. The reception brought out hundreds of people from the community, including Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson. We could not be more proud of the outcome of this project. And while we are a little biased, we feel the project's improvements pay homage to the history of the site and capture the character of this Sacramento community so well that the park will be a sought-out recreation destination for years to come! The sacramento Zoo was originally located within Joyland Amusement Park. That zoo inspired a play space for mcClatchy Park's youngest visitors. These precast climbers (Cemrock) include animals found in the sacramento area. Turtles, mountain lions and a bear live comfortably in a habitat of precast climbing boulders, a hollow log and a rubber-surfaced "riverbed" (Tot Turf).
