30 Landscape Architect and Specifier News The architecture, landscaping, paving and lighting designs of the Dolphin Mall in Sweetwater, Fla., were inspired by the street character of the Ramblas in Barcelona, Spain, coupled with the sculptural sleek forms seen in the South Beach district of Miami. The mall has three Latin-inspired districts: Playa (beach), Moda (fashion) and Ramblas (boulevards). The mall hardscape includes custom beige and red 'Shellock' pavers laid in a wave pattern for added visual interest. The 'tulip tree' frames, restaurant canopy structure and awning were fabricated locally in West Palm Beach. The carrot-colored tulip trees are a polyvinyl produced by Serge Ferrari, a French manufacturer of flexible composite materials. The stage cover is also from Ferrari.
