Oak Ridge National Laboratory's MLF Project Oak Ridge, Tennessee Above: Working with CannonDesign, Hedstrom Design prepared planting and landscape designs for the modernization of Oak Ridge National Laboratory's facilities. Traversing 10 feet of grade change, a series of steps, landings and planters lead to the main entrance. An alternate accessible path brings visitors to the front door through gardens and natural stonewalls. To help achieve LEED Gold certification, water captured on site is redistributed into planted areas, and roof water goes to cisterns for the custom drip irrigation system. Pellissippi Place, Alcoa, Tennessee Left & Below: As consultants to C2RL Engineering, Hedstrom Design provided landscape architectural design services for this 450-acre mixed-use development. Phase 1 included the main entrance boulevard with three large roundabouts, brick sidewalks and a greenway trail. The sidewalks have pervious pavers, and there's an emphasis on native plants.
