Fallen Heroes Memorial Mobile, Alabama Above & Top, Right: WAS had the honor of designing and constructing the newest memorial to the USS Alabama Battleship Memorial Park. The Fallen Heroes Memorial honors those from Alabama who served and paid the ultimate sacrifice in the Iraqi War and the War on Terror. Every element of the monument and plaza honors and thanks them. The hexagonal black granite centerpiece is decorated with the five branches of the U.S. Military. The two towers at the rear of the monument represent the World Trade Center. All the details were scrupulously designed, down to the materials and colors. Holiday Inn Resort, Pensacola, Florida Middle, Right: For this Holiday Inn Resort, WAS Design was called upon to create a relaxing outdoor oasis. WAS designed the pool amenities, the meticulous paving, landscape and turtle-friendly lighting. The large leisure pool connects to a "lazy river," spa and kid's pool, replete with waterfall and a nearby palapa bar. Pensacola International Airport – Covered Walkway, Pensacola, Florida Right: WAS Design worked as the prime consultant for a covered walkway at Pensacola International Airport to connect the newly constructed Hyatt Place Hotel (also a WAS project). The design developed an elegant solution to a highly constrained project that included numerous underground obstacles and four different overhead requirements. WAS also provided construction observation services and was very involved throughout the construction of this complex project. October 2016 147
