(Just Kidding) Only 35% of aspiring lawyers passed the California bar exam in February. California has a higher bar standard (score of 144) than any state but Delaware (145). There are 16 states, including New York, that accept 133 as a passing score. Deans of 20 of California's nationally accredited law schools have unsuccessfully petitioned the California Supreme Court to lower the passing score. The court oversees the state bar and regulates the exam.
