His success stems from fostering a culture of empowerment among those who are part of his corporate teams. Cornwell has been successful as an executive in both Fortune 500 firms and privately held enterprises. He has a diverse background w i t h s p e c i a l i z e d knowledge and expertise in the areas of human resources, organizational development, recruitment and strategic planning. Professional Grounds Management Society announced its 2014 collegiate scholarship recipients. This year's recipients include: Jeffery Fox of Clark State College received $1,100; Julia Thome of University of Maryland received $900; Jacob Suissa of University of Vermont and Clinton Truitt of Gwinnett Technical College both received $550. Each year the scholarship committee awards scholarships to students in horticulture or related fields. The awards committee looks for students who have solid grades and past or current employment in the green industry, involvement in the industry with apprentice or professional organizations as well as civic projects and outreach programs. Wenk Associates expanded its leadership team. Nicole Horst and Greg Dorolek have been named principals of the firm. Horst leads the firm's national parks and open space practice, and is currently managing work on Confluence Park at the junction of the Platte River and Cherry Creek in downtown Denver. She has led the design of several of the firm's award winning projects in Colorado and across the U.S. Dorolek leads the firm's planning and design for civic, urban infill, and institutional campus projects. He is currently leading the Alpine Valley project at University of Colorado at Colorado Springs, and previously led the design of the firm's award winning work at Mariposa for the DHA, and TAXI II in Denver. Safeplay Systems, manufacturer of EcoPlay® commercial playground equipment, announced new owners and corporate executives. As owners, Kent Gregoire has been named CEO, and Steve Cornwell has been named president and COO.
